UPDATE:     I talked to CO today, and they offered me a job!!!

Thursday, February 22, 2007

ok, so here's the deal: I applied to Kanakuk, if only to keep my options open, at the urging of the incredible Kim Waddell, even though I was pretty much sold on this camp in Colorado. I interviewed with Kanakuk when they came to K'ville, and they want me to work there 2 and 3 terms as a kitchie, which sounds like a lot of fun. I know that if I did it, I would make some really great friends, have a good two months of people investing in me spiritually, and PLUS one of my friends would also be working there as a kitchie second term. Score.

On the other hand, before they called me to offer the job, I didn't really want to work there that much. My heart is already in the mountains, but the more I thought about it, it sounded like fun, albeit the easy way out.

Clincher: I won't find out from CO if I'm hired until mid to end of March, and I have to tell Kanakuk what's up by this coming Monday night. What do I do?

I called the camp in CO to talk to them, and they're great, and the guy offered to kind of have an informal phone interview with me tomorrow then he'll kind of tell me what my chances are of getting hired by them, still no guarantees. He said they anticipate hiring 17-20 people, and about 45-50 will apply.

So pretty much, I don't know what to do and I hope that tomorrow's phone call will clear something up for me. I don't want to work at a camp unless I feel at peace about it, but right now they both sound great. So, pray for me, pray for the phone interview tomorrow, and pray that I'll come to a decision that I feel right about.

This past weekend a small town of people came to visit me.  Seriously.  Eleven people invaded Kirksville, and it was so much fun!

I don't know what I'm doing this summer yet, so I've applied to Kanakuk and a camp in Colorado so far.  Gosh, this Colorado camp sounds perfect!  I mean, it sounds incredibly hard to get a job there, but also like it's a dream come true! It's in Boulder and I'd be getting paid to hang out with kids, teach math, teach sports and go on fabulous weekend trips white water rafting, visiting the Royal Gorge, going to CO springs, and much more.  So, if you're the praying type, seriously please pray for my summer plans and that I'll do what God wants me to do!

Hello, xanga world.  Long time, no post.  Here are the main things to catch you all up on:

I went to Colorado for Christmas with my fam to go skiing and it was so fun (even the 24 hour drive back through a snow storm could have been worse...)

I went to St. James for New Years to hang out with a bunch of new friends and it was pretty stinkin' fun

I'm now the world's most expensive child, as in the past month I've had to get new tires for my car, gotten new contacts and glasses, gone skiing, and had my first visits to a chiropractor.  But at least now my car is safe, I can see, I got to spend lots of time with my family, and my back isn't spasing out.

School's back, and so boring. I probably shouldn't complain about my classes being too easy, but seriously, I'm going to need lots of coffee to keep from snoozing.

I still don't know what I'm doing this coming summer...any ideas?

One class completely over!  (and I still get to graduate in May)

One over on Friday (my first class being the teacher!)

All CCF activities for the semester are over (coffee house finished it up on Saturday)

The flu is over (our house was quarantined after 4 out of 6 roommates got hit in 5 days)

Finals loom, tensions rise (except mine, which is nonexistent...hallelujah)

I don't know why I'm even writing this...(no one reads it anyway)

I like using parenthesis, even when not necessary (did you notice that?)

In three short weeks I'll be on my way to Aspen, California, where the beer flows like wine, and the women instinctively flock like the salmon of capastrano.  No wait, we're going to Dillon, Colorado, not Aspen, but it was worth the quote.

I need motivation to do school work!  Too bad all my finals are over a week away, and not even scary-looking enough to prompt me to study.  So I will waste away online....
